Melbourne is arguably the leading city in Australia when it comes to SEO. ‘SEO Melbourne’ is a fiercely competitive keyphrase and many of the seo companies based in Melbourne occupy the top spots when you make the most generic search engine optimisation searches on Google.

Why is this so? I think one reason is because Melbourne IT is obviously based here. Though this company does not really compete with the top SEO companies, they did spawn a generation of forward thinking internet savvy business people. A few of the highest ranking SEO companies are owned by former Melbourne IT staff, who could see the opportunity to offer dedicated SEO services and the profit it could generate for their clients.

This has spawned a second generation of SEO experts and their success has attracted a lot more people to the field of search engine optimisation.

Like all cities Melbourne also suffers from many ‘cowboy’ SEO companies that can not actually get high rankings for their clients, and to me one of the main things to check when choosing a provider is asking how long they have been in business and to ask for some of their clients websites. Most times and SEO company will have a link from their clients websites to their own, something like SEO by Rank First, for example in the footer of their homepage.

Another key factor for me if i was to pick an SEO company is that they should be a dedicated company, not a web development company for example that also offers SEO services. Usually these latter are just adding on another revenue stream and are not as committed to getting a great result for their clients. They are web designers, not SEO geeks going to bed thinking about what they can do the next day to get a website ranking higher. Of course there may be some that I don’t know of who are good at SEO.

They are all passionate about SEO and their business and there are good and bad reports about all of them. So call more than one and ask the questions that are important to you.

SEO Company in Melbourne

We started our seo company in Melbourne about three years ago. I kind of fell into the whole web world after travelling for around the real world for many years. For me search engine optimisation was what took my attention as an exciting and rewarding industry.

I remember the first day I learned SEO existed and thought, ‘wow, there are people who can do that?’, which is something I still hear from business owners and other people to this day.

Quickly it became a kind of addiction. I spend too much time on the internet and am just as excited when a new clients website crosses a targetted milestone as I was the first time. We are always trialling new techniques and ideas we have and get a real kick out of success.

The one thing I value most with client communication is ‘realistic expectations’. Because SEO seems to be such a mystery box to many people, we really want our clients to know what to expect. It can be difficult at times because people believe what they want to hear, and there is no shortage of cowboys out there who want to promise the world to business owners. You know the ones who cold call you or send spam email about ‘amazing results’ and ‘guaranteed results’ and all that hoo ha.

The clients we want to work for know their business goals and accept the fact that search engine optimisation is a long term marketing strategy. Sure you can kick some quick goals at times, but the people we work for that are making the most money are the people we have worked for the longest.

There are not that many other SEO companies out there who we would say do a good job, and we are not the only seo company to say that. One reason is that web developers (bless them) are often trying to add on a recurring revenue stream, without the systems in place to get results. Another are just unscrupulous flash in the pan businesses trying to make a quick buck from as i mentioned earlier, promising the earth.

We are not like that. All we do is SEO. We take pride in what we do, and we love it. We have a proven strategy and the experience to implement it consistently over the duration of a project, which is what is really needed. Our company does not use a make it up as you ago approach which has huge potential for failure.
